How To Get Your Orgasm Back
Hands up if you can relate to this scenario... you're getting your sexy on - either solo or with a partner - and you're so close to orgasm that you can almost feel it BUT your mind then switches to that pile of washing that needs folding, or the email you forgot to send at work, and just like that - it's gone.
According to Psychology Today, orgasmic dysfunction is the (rather unattractive) scientific name given to a woman's difficulty, or inability, to reach orgasm during sex. It's the female equivalent of erectile dysfunction. That's not to say that just because you struggle to reach a climax a couple of times that you would be diagnosed with orgasmic dysfunction - it's important to remember that the majority of women require clitoral stimulation to reach orgasm, and a relatively small number of women report that they always experience orgasm during intercourse.
To be diagnosed as having orgasmic dysfunction, usually clinically significant distress must accompany the symptoms and the sexual dysfunction can not better be explained by another mental disorder; as a consequence of severe relationship distress (including partner violence); medication; or another medical condition.
If you suspect you might be suffering from orgasmic dysfunction then you should speak to a medical professional. Image source: Unsplash.
"It’s pretty much the worst possible thing that can happen to a woman, amirite
? A veritable vaginal "womp, womp." Most women have been there, and subsequently hope to never return" - Women's Health
So I don't have orgasmic dysfunction, but how can I get my orgasm back?
Women's Health magazine refers to the following 5 techniques.
Five Techniques to Bring Back Your Orgasm:
1. Fantasize - just when you feel your mind wondering to that pile of washing - think dirty thoughts - whatever your fantasy may be; BDSM, threesomes, Chris Hemsworth - use your imagination to bring you right back to pleasure town.
2. Meditative Masturbation - this is your time to relax and do something nice for you and this is where mindfulness comes in. Really focus in what your doing and how it feels. Introducing candles or music can help.
3. Use a Sex Toy - using a clitoral stimulator like the new Satisfyer Curvy can work wonders. Its unique way of stimulating the clitoris (via gentle yet rapid air suction) combined with rumbling vibrations feels incredible for most women. Plus the Satisfyer Curvy comes with a free app with allows you to set it's vibrations to your favourite tunes!
4. Mix It Up - if you feel your orgasm slipping away from you - change positions or try something completely different.
5. Talk It Out - if you feel like you've tried everything, and that it's a consistent problem, then you should consider cognitive behavioral therapy or sex therapy. Speaking with an expert may help shed light on something deeper that you may not have otherwise considered. Don't put it off and deprive yourself of the great sex you deserve to be having!
